Slightly gobsmacked to be celebrating the twentieth anniversary of my short film The Gardener. Has it really been twenty years? I’m still interested in themes of identity, nostalgia, memory, history and trauma. Nowadays, however, I look at all it with a bit more humour…and with perhaps more political and social perspective. It’s also wonderful to have my late, beautiful grandparents immortalised in film. Thanks to all my former Macquarie University buddies, who helped bring this to life.
